Changes resulting from the new Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR)

The digital product passport is introduced.

The new Ecodesign Regulation came into effect on July 18, 2024. This regulation was created by the European Parliament and the Council of the EU with the goal of making sustainable products the standard in the EU.

The Ecodesign Regulation allows product performance and information requirements to be set. This should ensure that products last longer, are easier to repair and recycle, and contain recycled materials. Additionally, the Digital Product Passport is addressed in the ESPR.

The idea behind the Digital Product Passport (DPP) is to make product-specific data and information on repairability and proper disposal digitally available. This information should be accessible via an easily accessible label on the product. The DPP is designed to help consumers and businesses view sustainability information and make product decisions.

But how can the Digital Product Passport be implemented?

With the SaaS software SecIdent!

SecIdent enables the implementation of the Digital Product Passport for manufacturers from many industries. In addition to the DPP, SecIdent offers many other benefits, such as brand protection and track-and-trace capabilities..
